Henry ‘Spider Boy’ Bulson

For over 20  years, one of the most popular people in North Rockland was Stony Pointer Henry Bulson. Disabled at birth probably with MD, both his legs were deformed. A well adjusted kid, Henry spent 6 years in the rehab hospital and endured 8 operations all without success. Soon after his discharge at 11 years old, Henry joined the Suffern medicine show and the rest is sideshow history. An extremely popular act in Coney Island for over 20 years, he was a Ripley’s star and travelled around the world 3 times with Ringling Brothers Circus.

Rarely do I get to write about a person I never heard tell of.  I came across this story because late in his life, he had a number of personal issues and was arraigned in the Crickettown house for simple assault with crutches. Henry could not pay the $10 fine, and agreed with Judge Hoyt to do a few shows to make good. Since I have never heard of Henry or found anyone who ever did, I wrote nothing new, just links to one of the most popular sideshow acts in history.
